Yakuza: Like a Dragon is finally ready to arrive on the western market. SEGA has indeed released a new trailer confirming the launch date (on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC): November 14th. For fans of the franchise, this is a particularly important title, a real reboot of the series. The protagonist changes, partly the setting (the events are set, and even the battle system is distorted. The taste for the absurd, however, remains identical and easily recognizable.
In recent years we have witnessed a progressive and increasingly clear approach of RPGs to the dynamics of action: just think of the remake of Final Fantasy VII, which as we explained in our review retires the old turn-based combat system and makes it more modern and dynamic. This new Yakuza goes against the grain, and where there was a lot of beat'em up action before, there is now an extravagant mix of punch and RPG elements, which therefore are not limited to just character growth.
As mentioned, for the first time the protagonist will not be Kazuma Kiryu but Ichiban Kasuga, and although the background remains Tokyo, now the settings will be greater: however, there will also be the dear and old district of Kamurocho, inspired by the real one of Kabukicho . Yakuza: Like a Dragon will also be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, but the launch date in this case has not yet been announced.
