The deadline for the ultimatum imposed on TikTok by the United States is close at hand and the choices for ByteDance are thinning: either it will find a buyer by tomorrow or it will be forced to leave the US market. Unsurprisingly, the Chinese company in the last few hours has put in order among the offers received to sell the US assets of TikTok.
The situation can be summarized as follows: Microsoft officially leaves the list of possible buyers and the agreement seems to be oriented towards concluding with Oracle. Microsoft's offer was rejected by ByteDance. The Redmond house commented:
ByteDance let us know today that it will not sell the TikTok business to Microsoft. We are convinced that our proposal would be good for TikTok users while protecting national security interests
The reassurances provided by Microsoft, which stated that it would make significant changes to the popular social network with the aim of ensuring privacy, online safety, and fighting disinformation, did not help.

With Microsoft out of the game, the rumors about the company that will take over the activities of TikTok in the USA focus on Oracle: the news is not yet official but the hypothesis is supported by New York Times and from Reuters. The authoritative sources speak of an agreement that will be announced shortly; and yes, it would be an "alliance" and not a real "sale", a technological partnership between ByteDance and Oracle under which the latter will manage the data of US users of TikTok.
The deal will of course have to be approved by the White House and the US Foreign Investment Commission, but it is worth remembering that Oracle has already received informal approval from President Trump who last month called it a big company and the best solution for TikTok. Soon the rumors will leave room for official confirmation: the deadline for the ultimatum is in fact set for tomorrow (September 15).
