At the beginning of April, LG promised that compatibility with AirPlay 2 and HomeKit would also land on many TVs of 2018, in particular those of the UK / SK series and on OLEDs from B8 to Z8. The update was expected for late 2020, however it seems that the owners of these models should put their hearts in peace: LG UK has in fact confirmed on Twitter that the update of the pre-2019 models is no longer planned.
Hi there, LG has no plans to update its pre-2019 TVs with Airplay2 or Homekit unfortunately. Apologies for the inconvenience caused!

This is a cold shower that has annoyed many owners of the 2018 models, who have used the company's social channels to express their disappointment regarding the lack of support on televisions that are less than 2 years old. Recall that LG had initially said that the 2018 range would not receive support for AirPlay 2 and HomeKit, only to back off in April of this year.
It therefore seems that the South Korean company has reneged on its promise and has retraced its steps, unleashing the wrath of users who have deluded themselves – in these few months – of being able to receive adequate support for their after all recent TVs. In the meantime, a petition has been organized which, apparently, has already reached over 20,000 subscriptions from dissatisfied users. Who knows if this does not push the company to think again.
