The Cupertino house has raised the curtain on the unique Apple One subscription only a few hours ago, but that was enough to arouse the first reactions among industry operators. Spotify in particular has harshly criticized the solution chosen by Apple to enclose all its paid services in packages that allow you to save on the total fee deriving from the sum of the individual subscriptions. For operators of the popular music streaming platform, Apple One limits and harms competition, as well as negatively affecting consumer choice.
It is useful to remember that Apple One includes in each of the three plans (Individual, Family and Premier) also the subscription to the Apple Music service which is in direct competition with that of Spotify. Apple could therefore attract new users with plans that, on the whole, allow for effective cost savings (respectively 6 and 8 euros for the Individual and Family plans, 25 dollars for the Premier plan – not available in Italy); all to the detriment of those who offer competing services and being able to invest significant resources to promote the offer.
In the official statement on the affair Spotify calls for an urgent intervention by the antitrust authorities:
Apple is once again using its dominance and unfair practices to disadvantage competitors and deprive consumers by favoring its services. We call on competition authorities to take urgent action to curb Apple's anti-competitive behavior which, if left unchecked, will create irreparable damage to the developer community and threaten our collective freedoms to listen, learn, create and connect.
Apple's response was not long in coming: the Cupertino company underlines that customers always have the possibility to find and choose alternative services and that the purpose of Apple One is to save those who already use more Apple services – is the hypothesis of a user who already has a subscription to Apple Music, Apple TV +, Apple Arcade and iCloud and with the new plans will only pay less than what he pays now.

Spotify's attack against Apple is not an isolated case, criticism from the music platform operators previously contributed to the launch of the double European antitrust investigation that focuses on the management policies of the App Store and the Apple Pay service . New developments are awaited.
