Sonic The Hedgehog, the first film dedicated to SEGA's blue copybook, had started slowly: the very first trailer had generated – due to the design chosen for Sonic – a negative wave so strong as to force Paramount Pictures to postpone the release of the feature film to intervene radically.
When it finally came out in theaters in February, however, it recovered all the lost ground by setting the record for a videogame-inspired film, also beating the numbers of Pokémon: Detective Pikachu (by the way: also in this case a sequel will arrive ). And crossing the finish line just in time, because the health emergency would soon explode, with all the consequences we know for the film industry (and not only, of course).
For this reason the news of a sequel was in the air, and somehow it can be said that it came directly from Sonic's voice. Ben Scwartz, the American voice actor of the mascot SEGA, has in fact published a tweet in which he reveals the arrival date of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (provisional title): April 8, 2022.

The first chapter had been realized by allocating a budget of 86 million dollars, and only in the United States has almost doubled the investment making 146 million at the box office. Globally, however, the figure rises to 306 million.
