After introducing the Fidelio X3 headphones to the market, Philips presents itself at IFA 2020 with lots of news in the audio segment. We start with the range of premium Fidelio products where the B95 and B97 premium soundbars and the new Philips Fidelio L3 headphones are found, then move on to the T8505 and T5505 TWS earphones and the Philips H9505 headphones. Finally, we have the presentation of the Wireless Home System, a wireless multi-room ecosystem compatible with some of the audio and video products. Let's see all the news below.

Both soundbars boast a slim look, the B97 being the only one of the two that features a 7.1.2 multi-channel setup. The system consists of 17 drivers in total, with 6 19mm soft dome tweeters, including eight ported 1 "x3.5 '' bass / mid race-track drivers. For totally immersive sound, the B97 also features 2.5 '' Dolby Atmos Elevation units angled upwards. A racetrack driver is mounted in each detachable speaker and works with an additional pair of drivers for the left and right channels when connected to the main bar. Two other drivers work as part of a dedicated center channel.
Rounding off the transducer configuration is an 8 '' bass driver that is mounted in a separate wireless subwoofer and provides bass frequencies up to 35Hz. The B97 also features large, high-quality power reserves with 500W for the main system and 240W for the subwoofer.
As for the performance in the cinema we find full compatibility with Dolby ATMOS and DTS: X systems, moreover the B97 is one of the first Philips Sound products to be IMAX Enhanced certified. We close with connectivity, guaranteed by two HDMI 2.1 connectors (eARC and 4K pass-through), we also find the connection via Bluetooth music and Apple AirPlay, moreover the soundbar is part of the Philips Wireless Home system that offers an easy wireless multi-room connection via Play-Fi technology. Finally, simplified installation thanks to the Philips Sound app and compatibility with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
Fidelio B97 soundbar
The younger sister B95 boasts similar features, but unlike the larger model it features a 5.1.2 multi-channel configuration without Surround on Demand technology. This model has 14 drivers in total, including five 19mm soft dome channels – three front and two angled side – plus three pairs of 1 "x 3.5" ported mid / bass 'racetrack' drivers and two drives Dolby Atmos Elevation angled up-firing. The deepest bass, up to 35Hz, is handled by a separate wireless subwoofer with a large 8 '' driver. Power is a whopping 450W for the main system and 240W for the subwoofer.
Fidelio B95 soundbar
In addition to the new premium Philips Fidelio B95 and B97 soundbars, Philips TV & Sound is launching five new soundbars in the high-end 8000 range, all compatible with the Philips Wireless Home System: from the integrated 2.1-channel 120W single B8205 soundbar to the fully functional B8905 complete and 3.1.2 channels with Dolby Atmos Elevation driver, 360W of power, wireless subwoofer and e-arc connectivity.
All products presented will be available from October 2020, there is currently no information on prices.
The Fidelio L3 headphones ensure top-level audio performance thanks to the 40mm driver featuring a three-layer construction that uses a layer of TPU (shock-absorbing material) sandwiched between 2 layers of PEEK (a polymer most commonly used for high-end headphones ).
In addition to the excellent passive noise isolation, the Philips Fidelio L3 have a hybrid ANC system with four microphones able to offer the maximum level of noise cancellation without changing any quality parameters during playback, maintaining the original sound both with the system on and turned off. An additional built-in microphone is dedicated to removing background sounds to ensure calls are received and made with crystal clear audio.
Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and up to 35 hours of playback (30 hours with ANC active), but we also find a fast charge that allows you to enjoy 6 hours of use with a charging time of 15 minutes. The arrival on the markets is expected in October 2020.
The H9505 headphones feature an adjustable headband and large cushions for the earcups. This model offers 40mm neodymium drivers with high resolution sound quality option (24 bit / 96kHz HRA accredited) via the supplied detachable line-in audio cable. This model also offers the ANC system and Google Fast Pair technology combined with Bluetooth 5.0, to ensure fast and stable connections.
Ease of use is guaranteed thanks to touch controls with swipe, tap and pressure action. Alternatively, a Push-to-talk feature allows hands-free voice assistance via Google Assistant or Siri. The H9505 headphones also offer a long battery life, with 20 hours of playback regardless of whether the ANC is on or off, and the option of a quick charge, with a 15-minute charging time that offers a ' extra hour of use via the supplied USB-C cable. Availability from October 2020, prices yet to be communicated.
The new T8505 earphones are based on ANC noise cancellation technology and feature 13mm neodymium drivers, effectively representing the most performing TWS model in the Philips range. The circular body with angled oval sound channels guarantees fit and passive isolation, it is also possible to choose between 3 different sizes of the lining pads.
Connectivity benefits from Bluetooth 5.0 technology with Google Fast Pair, while the integrated battery is able to offer up to 6 hours of playback (5 with ANC active), times that extend to 18 hours total with the case charged. Fast charging is also available via a USB-C charging cable, which offers one-hour playback in 15 minutes. Simplified use thanks to the convenient touch & tap controls to play, skip and pause tracks. Alternatively, a Push-to-talk feature lets you activate voice assistance hands-free via Google Assistant or Siri. The earbuds are also splash proof with an IPX4 rating, perfect for outdoor use.
Let's now move on to the T5505 model, earphones that aim for excellent performance but at a more affordable price, not yet communicated. In this case we find 8 mm neodymium drivers and three interchangeable sizes of the headset. Google Fast Pair technology to facilitate connection via Bluetooth 5.0 and tap & touch commands as in the higher model. The battery has a range of up to 5 hours (4.5 hours with ANC continuously active) with an additional 15 hours of playback with the wireless case Fast charging is also available via a USB-C charging cable, which offers playback of a now in 15 minutes. The earbuds are splash proof with an IPX4 rating. Both TWS models will be available from October, prices have not been disclosed.
Partner TP Vision confirmed the introduction of the Philips TV & Sound Wireless Home System and the new Philips Sound app with DTS Play-Fi technology, specially designed to allow compatible Philips TV and audio products to connect and work together easily and without interruptions.
Philips TV & Sound Wireless Home System technology is based on DTS Play-Fi technology, a premium wireless audio platform designed for the whole home that allows users to stream high-quality audio from their TV and mobile devices, using a proprietary streaming, synchronization and authentication technology.
TP Vision confirms the presence of DTS Play-Fi on all Android TV models coming out in 2020 and is now expanding the Wireless Home System product offering to include new compatible soundbar models and wireless speakers. All 2019 Android TV models will also receive an over-the-air update to add DTS Play-Fi connectivity. Philips TV & Sound's Wireless Home System supports the new high quality W6505 & W6205 wireless speakers, both presented at IFA 2020.
Wireless Home System
The W6205 has 40W of power and is equipped with a 1 "soft dome tweeter and a 3.5" woofer supported by two passive bass radiators that adopt Philips' unique patented wOOx multi-suspension driver system to offer maximum bass extension. The W6505 reaches 80W and delivers world-class performance thanks to the inclusion of two 1 "soft dome tweeters plus two 3.5" woofers and two wOOx-enabled passive bass radiators.
In addition to DTS Play-Fi connectivity, the W6205 and W6505 also allow a wide choice of wireless connectivity via Bluetooth, Google Chromecast and Apple Airplay 2. Both speakers also feature Spotify Connect and access to all major streaming services. via the Philips Sound app with DTS Play-Fi.
