The Redmi AirDots 2 are official in China: this is the new generation of TWS headsets, or True Wireless Stereo, sequel to those launched in March 2019. Once again the feature that stands out immediately is the bargain price: in this crowd funding phase just 79 renminbi are enough, equal to scarce 10 euro. The list price will instead be 99 renminbi, equal to about 13 euros – the same as the AirDots 1 or the "refresh" of a few months ago AirDots S.
Aesthetically, the AirDots 2 are indistinguishable from the previous model or from the mid-career upgrade AirDots S. The design is in-ear with different size rubbers to choose from. The main novelty is connectivity: the Bluetooth chip is now in version 5.0, which guarantees more stable connections and faster pairing. Autonomy is 4 hours of continuous use; the charging case provides another 8, for a total of 12 hours. The weight of a single earphone is just 4.2 grams.
The 7.2mm drivers, says Redmi, will offer powerful bass and soft, delicate highs / mids. Ambient noise reduction is expected when making a phone call, but there is no ANC (Active Noise Cancellation). A double tap on the touch-sensitive back starts the Chinese voice assistant XiaoAI. We do not know if and when the earphones will also arrive in Italy.
