After AMD's recent confirmation regarding the launch of AMD Zen 3 processors for the consumer market (codenamed Vermeer), new details on the upcoming Ryzen desktop CPUs come from the well-known leaker Igor'sLAB. In detail, this is the OPN code of a brand new processor which, according to what reported, will have a 16 core / 32 thread configuration, like the Ryzen 9 3950X presented in June 2019.
The OPN code in question, 00-000000059-52_ 48 / 35_Y, also reveals the operating frequencies of this model which are respectively 3.5 GHz (35) for the base clock and 4.8 GHz for the Boost mode (48 ). At present we cannot confirm that these will be the final specifications of the CPU, especially because we do not know if we are facing the final sample that precedes the volume production.
The AMD Ryzen processors with Zen 3 architecture will debut by the end of the year and it is not excluded that they will be marketed under a different name than what has been said so far. In fact, we have been talking about Ryzen 4000 desktop for months, however, several sources report how AMD could skip the Ryzen 4000 nomenclature in favor of a clearer Ryzen 5000 which, undoubtedly, would more effectively diversify the manufacturer's offer, already crowded with several Ryzen 4000 models (U / H / G series) based on Zen 2 architecture.
If so, the processor we mentioned above could be the new top of the Ryzen 9 5950X range; if the frequency is also confirmed, we will have a 16c / 32t chip that exceeds the Ryzen 9 3950X (3.5 / 4.7 Hz) by 100 MHz.
