From today, passengers on the Beijing and Shenzhen subways will have very technological windows: LG has in fact decided to mount its own transparent OLED displays on subway trains.
Transparent OLEDs have a Full HD resolution, a diagonal of 55 inches. Given their peculiarity, the display windows will allow you to look outside, but will also display information on timetables, positions and train connections, without forgetting weather, flights and news of the day.
LG's tech windows will initially be installed on Beijing Metro Line 6 (Haidian Wuluju – Lucheng) and Shenzhen Metro Line 10, but the plan is to extend them to other city lines as well, in collaboration with local transport companies .
To tell the truth, transparent displays are not an absolute novelty: the first appeared at trade fairs several years ago, but the applications in the real world are much more recent, in particular those that have some usefulness. In addition to today's example, LG partnered with Harrods last October to place their transparent displays in shop windows during Tech Month.
