LG participates in IFA 2020 in a decidedly different way than usual, offering a virtual and interactive tour of its stand; and this year it focuses on the smart home, using its ThinQ brand. ThinQ Home is a connected system of household appliances and smart devices completely comparable to Apple HomeKit or Google Home, and is mainly driven through a smart touch screen mirror.
The device is called LG ThinQ Home Concierge. When turned on it shows a screen just like that of Apple Home, with quick links to manage your appliances and monitor their key parameters. There are no exact details on compatible brands, but LG says there will be many – from robots to refrigerators, from thermostats to even electric car chargers. Other functions include the ability to monitor the energy consumption of your home – or at least of the connected smart appliances.
LG has not specified prices and availability of the gadget, nor has it explained the intended use of the mirror in case it is turned off – in the sense: with all those fingerprints it will not be much of a mirror.
