IPhones will be late, we already know: it was Apple herself to admit it, although she reassured everyone talking about a postponement limited to "few weeks"Moreover, even some suppliers had hinted that something this year would have changed compared to the past (Qualcomm and Broadcom above all) due to the pandemic that slowed down the functioning of the entire supply chain. DigiTimes today adds other important details that, if confirmed, could provide a much more comprehensive picture regarding the actual availability of the new range of Apple smartphones.
Of the four expected models, those equipped with a 6.1-inch display (iPhone 12 Max and iPhone 12 Pro) could in fact be placed on the market before the 5.4 (iPhone 12) and 6.7-inch versions (iPhone 12 Pro Max ). The reason for this hypothetical two-phase release would be due to the problems faced by the Taiwanese supply chain, and in particular by the suppliers of motherboards made with Substrate-like PCB (SLP) technology. The components destined for the 6.1 "variants would have already been shipped, while the others would have to wait for the end of August, with actual availability postponed for 2-4 weeks.
Will only the 5.4 and 6.7 "iPhones be late, or will it be a delay that will affect the entire range, with even longer times than expected for the compact and top models? of a possible presentation on September 8th: on that occasion we will certainly know more.
