The pandemic has forced tech companies to review production processes and release plans for products destined for the market, either due to the closure of factories in recent months, or due to the difficulties encountered in logistics. The fact is that among those who have found themselves forced to reformulate roadmaps and calendars there is also Apple, which with the 2020 edition of the iPhone is preparing to officially enter the era of next generation networks.
It was already known that iPhone 12 was late: it was announced by Apple itself, talking about a slip of "few weeks"Then some problems in the production of the cameras made them fear that the times could expand further, a risk that apparently should not reveal itself.
The question therefore arises spontaneously: when will the new iPhones arrive? To this Jon Prosser tries to answer, who publishes a post on Twitter reporting the "Apple's new revised dates"which also concern Apple Watch and iPad. Here they are:
- Apple Watch and iPad: announcement via press release in the week of September 7
- iPhone: event in the week of October 12
- iPhone 12 and 12 Max: pre-orders in the week of October 12, shipments in the week of October 19
- iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max: pre-orders and shipments in November
A note is a must: it is a rumor – even Prosser himself does not rule out that there may be variations – and to date it is not yet the case to circle the dates indicated in red on the calendar. Just to say, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman responded to the tweet with a nice thumbs down …
So Prosser hypothesizes a two-tranche release, which however does not coincide with the rumor that reported 8 September as the date of the event (online), nor with what emerged at the beginning of the month in which a possible separate debut was supposed, yes, but according to other criteria. In that case, in fact, it was expected a release on the market of iPhones from 6.1 "first (therefore the iPhone 12 Max and 12 Pro) and those from 5.4 and 6.7" then (iPhone 12 and 12 Pro Max ). For Prosser, the distinction must be made between "basic" and "Pro" models.
The indications on the announcement of Apple Watch and iPad are also to be confirmed: to date we know that the tablet could debut with a 10.8 "display (with new 20W charger in the package), and that the Series 6 smartwatch will be able to measure the level of oxygen in the blood.
