Apple continues its expansion in India, according to the latest reports from the production chain. In fact, it seems that Foxconn has started the production of iPhone 11 in Chennai, a large city located on the east coast of India. This is the first time that an iPhone belonging to the main series of the moment has been made outside the traditional Chinese production chain; iPhone XR had come very close to achieving this record, however it missed the target by a few weeks (production in India started last October, a short distance from the launch of the iPhone 11 family).
At the moment it is not clear whether the iPhone 11 made in Chennai will be destined only for the internal market or if, as happened in the past, they will also be able to reach other countries. We recall in fact that Apple is strengthening its presence in India for two very important reasons. The first concerns the possibility of taking advantage of the incentives linked to the government program Make in Indiaat the same time avoiding the heavy duties on the import of technological goods (set at 20%), while the latter is linked to the need to reduce its dependence on China.
The constant tensions between Washington and Beijing are making China's stay very problematic, which is why the Cupertino house – but not only – is trying to avoid getting involved in the crossfire between the two superpowers. The production of iPhones in India will also allow bitten Apple products to have more competitive prices in the local market, where it holds just 1% of the shares.
Apple iPhone 11 is available online from Mobzilla for € 632 or from Unieuro for € 808. The value for money is fair and there are 6 better models. To see the other 87 offers click here. (update of 27 July 2020, 11:22 am)
