Iliad will make its debut on the fixed network market by summer 2021. The confirmation comes from Thomas Reynaud, CEO of the Iliad group, who indicates the strategy of the operator from beyond the Alps, commenting on the financial results achieved by the operator in the first half of the year.
We are entering the second phase of the Odyssey 2024 plan, with many projects planned for the coming quarters, in particular the launch of B2B activities in France and the fixed network in Italy.
The deadline to enter the fixed network market is confirmed in the financial documentation under "Group objectives", where we read:
Launch of our fixed network business in the country (Italy, ed.) By summer 2021 (new target)
That something was moving had already been in the air for some time: only a few days ago Iliad reiterated its intention to extend its business in the fixed sector on the occasion of the presentation of the quarterly results, and even before that, several reports of offers of work with which the company seeks Fixed Number Portability experts. The French operator had officially announced the collaboration with Open Fiber already last July, thanks to the authorization previously received from MISE which formally allows it to be counted among the operators active on the market.
With the fixed network offer, Iliad will also bring its Freebox, modem and set top box, already available in France and therefore ready to debut in our country, to Italy. Who knows that Freebox Pop cannot be proposed, a device launched in July of this year developed to make the most of connectivity in FTTH mode.
We also remember two Iliad offers that can be activated with the possibility of passing the number or new activation:
