Nintendo continues to amaze us with surprise announcements and in the last few hours has formalized the arrival of Hyrule Warriors: The era of calamity, ready to land on Switches around the world starting next November 20.
For those unfamiliar with the Hyrule Warriors series, it is a spin-off belonging to the genre of musou (do you know the Dynasty Warriors? Here) that approaches the saga of The Legend of Zelda with a much more action-packed gameplay and less linked to the component exploratory.
However, unlike in the past, the new chapter looks like a direct prequel to Breath of the Wild, since it is set 100 years earlier than the events narrated in the launch title for Switch. The choice of 100 years is not accidental, as it is in this period that the war of Link, Zelda and the Four Champions takes place against the Ganon Calamity that threatens to destroy the peace of Hyrule forever (spoiler: he succeeds).
In Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity a very important part of the plot will therefore be deepened and there will certainly be reminders and references that will come in handy when Breath of the Wild 2 is finally presented. The announcement of the new game was preceded by a quick update on the state of development of the sequel, which seems to be still very far from the conclusion of the works.
In short, there is still to wait for BotW2, however the new Hyrule Warriors is ready to keep us company in the meantime. Nintendo eShop has already opened pre-orders; with these you can receive the Lucky Ladle as a bonus weapon for Link to use in the game. Having said that we leave you to the trailer:
