5G networks are increasingly popular all over the world (in Italy the debut with Vodafone dates back to over a year ago) and manufacturers are preparing in turn to increase the production rate of smartphones compatible with the latest standard of mobile connectivity.
The industry's latest challenge has been analyzed by TrendForce in a recent report: according to the data provided, Huawei will be the main smartphone manufacturer for 2020. Estimates predict that the Chinese multinational will produce 74 million 5G devices by the end of the year.
In second place there will be the new entry Appe, which is preparing for the presentation of its first iPhones with 5G. The units produced, in this case, should stop at 70 million.
Finally, the last step of the podium belongs to Samsung, which only a few hours ago announced the new 5G variant of the Galaxy Z Flip. Growth in the sector by the Korean company would have been slowed by the setbacks recorded in the Chinese market in recent years.
Samsung has had setbacks in the Chinese market in recent years. Although (these setbacks) did not seriously affect its global market share and revenue, it significantly slowed Samsung's growth in the 5G smartphone market.
According to TrendForce estimates, approximately 235 million 5G smartphones will be produced in 2020, equal to 18.9% estimated total production (1.24 billion smartphones).
