Sony announces Imaging Edge Webcam, a desktop application for Windows 10 that allows you to turn your digital camera into a real webcam. A similar solution had already been introduced in recent months by Panasonic, Olympus, Fujifilm and GoPro.
The will of the Japanese manufacturer is to offer users a higher image quality than that guaranteed by most of the integrated webcams on desktops and laptops. The pandemic, as we know, has contributed to the spread of platforms such as Zoom or Meet for videoconferencing, either for work and study reasons, or simply to stay in touch with loved ones. And the webcam, in these cases, can make a difference.
With Imaging Edge Webcam owners of Sony cameras will therefore be able to obtain excellent results, especially in terms of image quality and autofocus. There are 35 compatible models: just update the firmware, download and install the software (LINK) and connect the cam via USB.
Imaging Edge Webcam is currently compatible with 35 Sony camera models including: Alpha 9 II, Alpha 9, Alpha 7R IV, Alpha 7R III, Alpha 7R II, Alpha 7S II, Alpha 7S, Alpha 7 III, Alpha 7 II, Alpha 6600, Alpha 6400, Alpha 6100, RX100 VII, RX100 VI, RX0 II, RX0, vlog camera ZV-1 and others. The newly announced Alpha 7S III is also compatible.
The complete list of compatible models is available on the download page that we have linked in the text and that you can also find in SOURCE.
