Samsung has started distributing an update that adds the Filmmaker Mode video mode to the 2020 QLED TVs. The Filmmaker Mode was born thanks to an initiative by the UHD Alliance in synergy with some directors and other prominent Hollywood characters, including we also mention Tom Cruise. The official launch took place at the 2020 edition of the CES in Las Vegas. The new video mode was introduced with the aim of offering users an easy way to ensure a respectful vision of the director's artistic will.
When using the Filmmaker Mode, TVs disable a whole series of filters (noise reduction, functions to make the images more fluid, etc.) which can have an important impact on the viewing experience, significantly altering it compared to the performance that the creator of the the work intended to provide.
Not all manufacturers have introduced support for Filmmaker Mode since launch. Even Samsung, while participating in the initiative, has launched all new products without this mode on the market, postponing their activation to a generic "2020". With firmware 1301.5, the FIlmmaker Mode has finally arrived for owners of US QLED TVs (distribution has not yet started in Europe). Supported models are as follows:
- The Frame 2020
Note: we invite owners of European models not to attempt to force the update with the USA firmware in order to avoid any problems.
