GoPro Hero 9 Black is upon us, confirmation comes from WinFuture which anticipates its design in a series of print renderings. The heir to Hero 8 Black we reviewed last fall does not change much in shape, but introduces a brand new color display on the front that will help users especially to shoot themselves during sports activities. Support for 5K is also mentioned, although in this regard the source does not enter into the merits due to lack of information.
So the most striking novelty will be represented by the second display, the front one: the color panel will make the action cam even more versatile, allowing the user not only to access information on shooting such as resolution or frame rate, but also – and above all – to directly view the contents you are recording in "selfie mode". In short, it would be an extra tool available to users, both for shooting on the move and for taking advantage of the GoPro as a webcam on macOS and Windows.
The dimensions of the second display are obviously contained – considering that the product itself is very compact – but sufficient to show the framed scenes. The panel is located to the left of the camera, under which a small grid appears that hides the microphone. On the back there are no major changes: the whole back is occupied by the main display.
Unfortunately, the technical specifications are missing, but there is still mention of the compatibility with the wide range of accessories that has always distinguished the GoPro range of action cameras. There should also be retractable feet through which to attach the cam to external supports.
