India has the largest population in the world after China. The number of internet users in the country is increasing rapidly. About 750 million of the 1.3 billion inhabitants of India currently use the internet and are potentially Google customers.
Pichai Sundararajan, also known as Sundar Pichai, Google India's chief executive officer, announced at the annual Google meeting in India that the search giant plans to invest as much as $ 10 billion in India over the next five to seven years.

The search giant isn't the only tech giant that has shown interest in the Indian market. Facebook and Amazon, among others, have already invested billions in India.
