Less than a week to go until the presentation of the new generation GeForce RTX GPUs. Already enduring the wait is hard on its own, and NVIDIA certainly does not simplify the task for us by publishing teasers and decidedly succulent advances. Today we recommend a video lasting over eight minutes whose title says it all: "The remarkable art and science of modern graphics card design ": The movie, made in perfect" work from home "style, collects the testimonies of several employees of the company involved in the design of the new generation GPUs.
Of course, the number one challenge is heat dissipation. The company promises a fresh approach, without considering too much what has been done in the past: the idea is to develop an optimal solution without too many preconceptions that could cause compromises. If the photos leaked so far are true, we can actually say that a video card like this has never been seen yet: the top of the range RTX 3090 should occupy even three slots, and have one fan on each side.
Another big challenge is avoiding interference between two adjacent electrical signals – difficult when you have to concentrate so much power in so little space. One idea NVIDIA has been studying is to implement a new single 12-pin connector, which is less bulky than the two 8-pin connectors currently required for top-of-the-line cards. Don't worry, an adapter for commercial power supplies will be included in the package.
