ASUS has announced the availability on the Italian market of the new gaming notebooks of the ROG series based on the latest Intel Core H 10th gen and AMD Ryzen 4000 mobile processors. Obviously, these are products presented in recent months and which we have already had the opportunity to analyze. In detail we talk about the models:
- ASUS ROG Zephiyus G14
- ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 (GX550)
- ASUS ROG Zephyrus S17 (GX701)
- ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 15/17 (G532 / G732)
- ASUS ROG Strix G15 (G512)
Of these, the ROG Zephyrus G14 – unveiled at CES 2020 and already reviewed by us – is the first to use an AMD Ryzen 4000 (Zen 2) processor. The other models, however, rely on the Intel Core H 10a gen and NVIDIA GeForce, starting from the Zephyrus Duo and arriving at the ROG Strix G15.
We start from the only model with AMD CPU, the ROG Zephirus G14, a laptop that has convinced us in many respects, not only in terms of performance but also for design.
This 14 "gaming notebook is among the most powerful in its category: balanced in terms of size / weight ratio and equipped with a Ryzen 4900HS processor, powerful and efficient thanks to the 8c / 16t architecture and a 7nm production process.
On board we then find a 120Hz FHD panel (optional QHD), DDR4 3200 RAM and a graphics department entrusted to the GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q. For all the details, please refer to our review, while as regards the price, ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 is available starting from 1699 euros in Moonlight White and Eclipse Gray colors.
ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 GX550 – announced in April – is certainly the flagship product of the Taiwanese company, a notebook that stands out above all for the 14.1-inch secondary display placed above the keyboard. In detail, it is a 3140×1100 pixel IPS panel, which can be tilted at an angle of 13 °.
The particular design offers various possibilities to gamers but also goes well with what may be the needs of the creators, allowing you to also optimize the component dissipation system. This last boasts a top-of-the-range hardware configuration with Intel Core i9-10980HK and GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER, flanked by 4K or FHD displays with a refresh rate that reaches 300 Hz.
ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 is available from 4499 Euros.
ASUS ROG Zephyrus S17 moves in a similar direction in terms of performance, but on a slightly lower price range than its older brother. In this case we find a single IPS display, with different options for the gamers, which provide panels with refreshes that can reach 300 Hz with NVIDIA G-Sync support.
The hardware platform provides an Intel Core i7-10875H and a GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER and – like the other new models – there is no lack of latest generation connectivity (WiFi 6) a memory department with DDR4 3200 and SSD PCIe gen 3.0 x4 storage.
The base price of the ROG Zephyrus S17 is 3399 euros.
The ROG Strix SCAR series is intended for gamers who want to spend less but still aim for a high-performance machine with the typical characteristics of the Republic of Gamers series by ASUS. Original in design, ROG Strix SCAR notebooks rely heavily on RGB backlighting, which can also be combined with a wide range of ad hoc accessories offered by the manufacturer.
ASUS offers two models with 15.6 and 17.3-inch displays, respectively ROG Strix SCAR 15 G532 and SCAR 17 G732, both equipped with Intel Core i7-10875H processor and GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER.
The substantial difference lies in the panels that, in Italy, will be available with a refresh rate of 240 Hz for the 15 "version and up to 300 Hz for the 17" model. The rest of the features align with the other ROG products, among the prominent ones we point out a new generation cooling system and a storage department that provides PCIe SSD in RAID 0.
As for prices, ROG Strix SCAR 15 G532 starts from 2199 euros while SCAR 17 G732 has a base price of 1999 euros.
The new range of ASUS notebooks closes with the ROG Strix G15 (G512) model, the solution that is the cheapest among those presented. Characterized by a futuristic design, with thin bezels and three colors available including the new Electro Punk, ROG Strix G15 mounts a 10th gen Core i7 octa-core processor flanked by an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPU that can be combined with an FHD display from 144 Hz.
The DDR4 3200 RAM is expandable up to 32GB, the PCIe SSD storage up to 1TB can be configured in RAID 0 to guarantee an always responsive and fluid system even in multi-tasking. Finally, the expansion capability with USB 3.2 Gen 2 and USB-C as well as WiFi 6 connectivity and Gigabit LAN port is also good.
ASUS ROG Strix G15 G512 is available starting from 1099 euros.
