Just in these minutes Apple released iOS 13.7 and iPadOS 13.7 beta for developers. The update focuses primarily on expanding the COVID-19 notification API. The changelog in fact reads:
iOS 13.7 allows you to join the COVID-19 exposure notification system without the need to download an app. The availability of the system depends on the support of the local public health authority.
According to Apple, this update will allow users to activate COVID-19 exposure notifications without the need to download an app from the local public health authority, therefore this is the announced Phase 2 of this technology. It must be said that to verify a positive case at the moment a public health app is still needed, in our case Immuni (downloaded over 5 million times), to confirm a positive COVID-19 case.
iOS / iPadOS 13.7 are now available to all developers with compatible devices and enrolled in the testing program. The changelog does not mention other news with the exception of some bug fixes and various performance improvements.
