Amazon Fresh evolves and from a simple fresh food delivery service also present in Europe, it is now preparing to debut with its first dedicated physical store.
The location chosen by the e-commerce giant is that of Woodland Hills, California, where for several months Amazon Prime users have been able to take advantage of home delivery of food, thus respecting the social distancing imposed by the pandemic.
In Amazon Fresh, customers will find a wide assortment of the most important national brands (Coca-Cola, Kraft Mac and Cheese are mentioned), meat or fish products and fresh foods prepared daily by a dedicated culinary team inside the store.
Customers can decide to make purchases in-store or directly online: in the latter case, they can choose between same-day home delivery or collection at the point of sale where a dedicated parking space will be available. Amazon Fresh also offers package pickup from Amazon.com and free return of products without a package.
Being an Amazon store, the integration with Alexa could not be missing, which in this specific case will help users manage the shopping list or navigate the aisles. Inside the store there will also be numerous Amazon Echo Shows that can be used to ask for the exact location of a particular product.
Example: Alexa, where can I find hot sauce?
Thanks to the new Amazon Dash and a combination of algorithms and sensors in the cart, the items placed within the same cart will be automatically recognized and users will therefore only need to switch from the Dash Cart lane to automatically complete the payment.
Amazon Fresh will open to the public this week to a select group of customers invited to Woodland Hills. The definitive opening will take place in the coming weeks.
